Napier is a proud and highly popular tourist city and port, with a unique concentration of 1930s post-earthquake architecture. Every February 30,000+ people flock to the Hawke’s Bay port city for Art Deco Weekend, celebrating Napier’s Art Deco heritage and history.

The city offers a warm climate year-round and a range of suburbs which literally rose out of the harbour and sea after the 1931 Earthquake – Marewa, Onekawa, Greenmeadows and out towards Taradale.

Sea and harbour views are also part and parcel to living in suburbs such as Bay View, Westshore, Ahuriri and Napier South and Te Awa. Overlooking them all is Napier Hill, formally called Scinde Island. These days this is a popular central inner city suburb. Many of its prime properties overlook both the city and Ahuriri and across to Te Mata Peak and Cafe Kidnappers.

Andrew Chambers is a very hands-on guy and likes nothing better than getting out amongst it all, assessing the lay of the land and local property scene for himself. Given this it’s no surprise that Hastings-based senior valuer has been actively involved in the property industry in some way or another since 1992, in both Hawke’s Bay and up in the Bay of Plenty.

Since returning home to Hawke’s Bay in 2001 to work as a  valuer, Andrew is even more familiar with the wider region – including Wairoa, Napier City, Hastings and CHB. He knows all of these areas like the back of his hand. He’s worked in virtually every street, settlement, urban and rural neighbourhood, clocking up tens of thousands of kilometres, wearing out plenty of shoes in the process. That’s why we’re proud to have Andrew as part of Property InDepth’s experienced valuation team.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with my strong network of clients and property-related professionals and continuing to provide them with the reports and consultation documents they need, enabling them to make well-informed property decisions.”

Andrew has been involved in providing valuations for mortgage finance, sales purposes, probate, matrimonial settlement, insurance, and compensation. “In addition, I was involved in a number of development projects on both a valuation and consultancy basis, including housing developments, subdivisions and the taking of land for public works” he says.

He  prides himself on being a self-motivated and well organised professional. He’s able to work to tight deadlines, while maintaining a focus on accuracy and achieving key targets and results.

“I have experience in the valuation of various classes of urban and rural properties including large-scale grazing properties, horticultural blocks and lifestyle units. Specialist properties that I have been involved with also include the valuation of camping ground facilities and rural properties utilised for alternative purposes, and the valuation of plant and chattels for going concern and asset purposes.”

On the home front, he’s a keen family man and father, and involved in a variety of coaching and community roles. “I have a huge passion for the outdoors and sports and am a keen diver, hunter and strive to keep as physically fit as possible. I also consider myself a contributing team member in whatever activity I become involved in.”


Bevan is also a key member of our experienced valuation team in Hawke’s Bay.  He brings expert knowledge, being a Registered Valuer with over 20 years’ experience in the Hawke’s Bay property industry.

Bevan grew up on the family sheep and beef farm in Wairoa. He then “shore” his way through a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from Massey University majoring in Agriculture and Rural Valuation & Management.  In 2000 he began working as a valuer for Quotable Value, firstly in Gisborne and then based out of Napier where he was able to get experience in valuation across all types of property over 17 years. Following this he worked as a Rural Real Estate Salesperson for Property Brokers in Central Hawke’s Bay.  

He has a good understanding of what motivates people in property transactions, and he gained excellent experience in negotiation and ‘the transaction’.

He has personally invested in property from a young age having bought, sold, and developed numerous properties.  He currently farms some 850 hectares part-time in Wairoa and Tutira in partnership with his parents.

This interest in the farm has resulted in a move back to working as a Property Valuer on a permanent part-time basis which has allowed him to spend more time on the farm and with his young family.

Bevan has seen significant change in the property sector in his 20 years of involvement.  The challenges that we are facing today are significant, but that is what has defined our sector throughout its history – with every challenge comes an opportunity.

He lives in Napier with Annemarie who is currently juggling their young family whilst living and breathing netball, having coached 15 club titles wins over the past 18 years.

Along with family, Bevan is interested in all sports, outdoor pursuits, and anything to do with farming and property.
